How does Comvita protect the land and the bees?

What do you need to make perfect honey? The quality of the bees, the hive and the original ecological environment are certainly helpful, but Comvita's success has deeper reasons. To make perfect honey, we must first establish contact with the land, pay attention to the health of the bees, and understand the natural cycle of circulation, so that we can harvest the natural gifts of nutrient-rich and beneficial to the body and mind.

Guarding the land

Comvita's founding principle is: Let the earth be a little better than when we first met it. Since its inception in 1974, we have been working to improve New Zealand's ecosystem. In Paingaroa alone, we planted more than 40,000 native species. We have planted more than 2 million Manuka saplings in remote areas of New Zealand, which is an important part of the medical-grade Manuka honey project. We also carry out ecological restoration in all possible places.

Guardian bee

Comvita's beekeeper does not suddenly move the beehives while working, and does not make a crash when packing on the truck, nor does it suddenly move the beehive. Beekeepers' careful handling will keep the bees calm. In addition, we also use a cigarette sprayer. Our beekeeper ignites a small piece of linen and puts it into the smoker. Every time the hive is inspected and harvested, the smoker is used to soothe the bees. Bees are more willing to let humans do less to disturb their natural behavior. Our beekeeper's clothing and beehives are all light, which will keep the bees in good mood. Comvita's wooden beehives are softly coloured, which caters to the bees' extraordinary vision and helps them find their home more easily.

Protect you

When Allen and Claude first processed honey, pollen and propolis, they were keen to keep the product as close as possible to its natural state. This means doing as little processing as possible so that consumers like you can truly enjoy the essence of nature. Although we no longer manually separate honey from the hive, the professional team of the honey extraction plant still practices the concept of minimization, and is committed to maintaining purity from the source, and purity is of the utmost importance. Pure, natural and with the highest respect to the environment, this is Comvita's way of doing business.
